East High School - Youngstown
East High School implements High Schools That Work, SREB’s school improvement design for high schools. In 2017, new school administrators accepted the challenge to turn around the struggling school in three years. They targeted three goals: ensuring students attend school, graduate on time and meet graduation requirements.
Widespread attendance issues impeded student success, prompting the high school to first focus on getting students in school. Mapleton Middle School implements Making Middle Grades Work, SREB’s school improvement design for the middle grades. In 2018, school administrators accepted the challenge to turn around the struggling school in three years. Trumbull Career and Technical Center
Trumbull Career & Technical Center implements Technology Centers That Work, SREB’s school improvement design for career and technology centers. In 2017, school administrators accepted the challenge to improve outcomes for all graduates. Trumbull targeted two goals: ensuring all students graduate college and career ready and increasing the number of students who earn industry credentials and college credits before graduating. Administrators developed a campaign to encourage students to consider their options after high school such as enrolling in postsecondary programs, enlisting in the military or gaining employment in a good career field.
